Description
This glass cup is formed using a traditional air-blowing technique, where molten glass is gathered on a rod and shaped by hand. Air is introduced through the rod to expand the glass, allowing the form to develop naturally rather than through moulding.
Subtle variations in thickness, shape, and surface are inherent to the process, giving each piece a quiet individuality. Fine air bubbles and gentle distortion may appear within the glass, creating depth and movement without ornament.
A small mark at the base — known as the pontil — remains as a trace of the making process, where the glass was held and finished. This detail is characteristic of hand-blown glass and reflects the direct involvement of the maker.
Light in presence and simple in form, the cup is suited to everyday use or as part of a considered setting.
