A quiet homage to Japanese tea rituals, the Byakuro Candle Set reinterprets a handcrafted matcha bowl as a vessel of light. Resting on a traditional tatami mat woven from igusa straw, the piece is defined by proportion, texture, and restraint.
The ceramic bowl is finished in layered tones of earthen brown and moss green, recalling damp soil and finely ground matcha. Two cotton wicks sit within a generous pour of natural soy wax, producing a warm, even glow that softens the surface of the glaze without excess movement.
Once the candle has finished, the bowl is designed to continue its life as a tea cup, incense holder, or keepsake vessel, while the tatami base remains a grounding element for everyday use.
