The Blue Current Tableware Set brings together three complementary pieces of Shigaraki ware — a generous main plate, rice bowl and side dish bowl — accompanied by a pair of Japanese wooden chopsticks.

Across the ceramics, vivid pools and sweeping lines of blue move over a warm, earthy ground. Deep cobalt, turquoise and natural brown tones meet in patterns that feel spontaneous and fluid, giving the collection its distinctive character.

Designed as a complete setting for one, the different shapes allow a main dish, rice and accompanying side to be served separately while still creating a beautifully cohesive table.

About Hechimon

The ceramic pieces are part of the Hechimon tradition of Shigaraki ware.

Hechimon is a term used by Shigaraki craftspeople for pieces with unconventional and individual character. The philosophy embraces the idea that pottery does not need to look perfectly uniform to be beautiful.

Rather than having the precision of an industrial product, each vessel carries the expression of its materials, glaze, firing and craftsmanship. Subtle differences in colour, pattern and surface are therefore part of its appeal.

The result is tableware that feels personal, expressive and full of character.

Designed as a Complete Place Setting

Each piece has a natural role at the table.

The 24 cm plate provides ample room for a main dish, from grilled fish and vegetables to tempura, noodles or a composed meal.

The large rice bowl is generously sized for rice and other comforting bowl dishes, while the 14 cm side bowl is ideal for vegetables, salads, tofu, pickles, small noodle dishes or other accompaniments.

Together with the Japanese wooden chopsticks, the four pieces create an effortless individual place setting.
