Description
RYUSEI Azure Ryukyu Glass & Yamasakura Coaster Set
Bring the clear blues of Okinawa into your everyday rituals.
Hand-blown in Okinawa, the Azure Ryukyu Glass & Yamasakura Coaster Set pairs two luminous blue Ryukyu glass tumblers with Japanese-made coasters crafted from natural Yamasakura wood.
The tumblers are shaped in a softly rounded silhouette, with translucent aqua-blue glass deepening into rich cobalt at the base. As light passes through the glass, the shifting tones evoke the clear waters surrounding Okinawa—from pale coastal shallows to the deeper blue of the sea.
Each tumbler is individually hand-blown using traditional Ryukyu glass techniques, resulting in subtle variations in colour, form, bubbles and texture. No two are exactly alike.
Completing the set are two square coasters made in Japan from Yamasakura, or Japanese mountain cherry wood. The warm natural grain creates a beautiful contrast against the cool blue glass, bringing together Okinawan glassmaking and Japanese woodcraft in a simple, considered pairing.
Designed for two, the set is perfect for water, tea, cocktails or an evening drink and makes a thoughtful Japanese housewarming, wedding or anniversary gift.

About Ryukyu Glass
Ryukyu glass (琉球ガラス) is one of Okinawa’s celebrated craft traditions, recognised for its luminous colours, organic forms and distinctive handmade character.
Traditionally shaped by hand, each piece carries subtle traces of the making process. Small bubbles, gentle irregularities and variations in colour are natural characteristics of handcrafted Ryukyu glass, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike.
About Yamasakura
Yamasakura (山桜), or Japanese mountain cherry, is a natural hardwood appreciated for its strength, beautiful grain and the way its colour develops with continued use.
These coasters are carefully made in Tsukechi, Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, from selected Yamasakura timber. Their understated square form allows the natural beauty of the wood to complement the vivid blue glass.
For care, gently wipe after use or wash with a soft sponge and mild detergent. Remove excess water promptly and allow to dry thoroughly away from direct sunlight. Do not leave submerged in water, boil to sterilise or place in a dishwasher or dish dryer.
